Following the abolition of customs barriers in 1993, trade in goods and, in general, in movable property between member states of the European Union are recorded on special Intrastat lists. Every community economic operator who carries out purchase or sale operations from subjects holding a VAT number is required to complete the specifically created Intrastat forms, respecting the periodicity of presentation and expiry.
